Vyšehrad Cemetery, established in 1869, is located next to the Neo-Gothic building of Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. It is known for being the resting place of many important personalities of Czech history including the famous writer Karel Čapek, composer Antonín Dvořák, opera singer Ema Destinnová, writer Božena Němcová and many more.
The most dominant feature of the cemetery is the Slavín tomb, which was designed by Antonín Wiehl. This monumental tomb was constructed in 1890 and many outstanding people are buried there. Worth noticing are also the majestic Neo-Renaissance arcades, which house the most artistic gravestones.
